Alan co-founded Taylor Fry in 1999, helping to establish the actuarial business and, later, our expansion into analytics. He now works with clients across a range of practice areas using big data to help decision-makers tackle some of their toughest problems, particularly in the social sector.
Alan leads major projects for government in Australia and New Zealand, as well as large corporate organisations, such as Qantas. He also partners with social policy adviser Inside Policy on analytics, policy and evaluation projects dedicated to First Nations Peoples. He says:
“Social problems are dynamic, multifaceted and often hard to articulate, involving numerous stakeholders and interconnected parts. Communicating without jargon or technical complexity ensures issues can be understood and confidently addressed.”
In 2015, Alan was awarded Actuary of the Year by the Actuaries Institute for his contribution in developing the investment approach to public policy making. He initiated Taylor Fry’s position on sustainability and, as a result, in 2013 we achieved carbon neutrality over our entire history.
Before co-founding Taylor Fry, Alan consulted in Sydney, London, Chicago and New York.
Alan’s Qualifications- Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
